St John’s has one of the strongest and most diverse musical programmes at the University of Queensland. The chapel organ is one of the most beautiful Baroque instruments in Australia, and the college organist is available to provide organ tuition to students interested in learning the instrument; St John’s also offers an organ scholarship. Our College Choir sings Choral Evensong weekly on Wednesdays at 7pm and also sings at special services throughout the year.

We enjoy performances from students at our Formal Dinners on Monday nights. So far this year we have enjoyed accompanied sung pieces, both solo and from the Choir, a jazz trio performance and classical performances. All College members are encouraged to volunteer to perform.

Twice a year the College showcases student musical talent at Starlight Soiree and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik with performances from the choral scholars, the male and female acapella groups (the Jiggles and the Niggles), the college Jazz Band and the College band ‘Who is John’.
