Old Johnian, Nick Spinks (SJC 2002-2004), will commence as Vice Warden on 10 February 2023.

Warden, Ms Rose Alwyn, announced today that Mr Nick Spinks has been appointed to the role of Vice Warden and will commence on 10 February 2023.

Nick was a resident of St John’s College from 2002 to 2004, and returned to the College in September of last year as the Dean of Careers and Admissions.

A former lawyer, Lecturer-in-Charge at Australian Catholic University, and Recruitment Team Manager for Teach for Australia, Nick is passionate about working with young adults.

Nick is excited to be appointed Vice Warden, saying,

I was fortunate to be a resident at St John’s College and know what a formative place it is to grow socially, academically and as a leader.

He is especially enthusiastic about working alongside the current Warden and student leaders to forward the College’s vision,

“I am looking forward to continuing working with the Warden, Rose Alwyn, and the student leaders, led by Ellie Innes, to ensure that St John’s cements its place as one of the leading Colleges in Australia”.

Warden, Ms Rose Alwyn is particularly happy to have an Old Johnian serve as her deputy,

Our alumni play an important role in the College community. We are proud our residents consider themselves ‘Johnians for life’ and continue to give back to the College decades after valedicting. Returning to the College as a staff member, especially as Vice Warden, is something special. We are looking forward to having Nick play an integral role here at the College for years to come.

Nick will live onsite in Oakes House and commence the Vice Warden position following Dr Areti (Ari) Metuamate’s departure to Ormond College to become Vice Master and College Dean.
