Old Johnian Recognised in Australia Day Honours

Photograph of Dr Barry Kelly AMDr Barry Leonard Kelly (alumnus 1965) was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the mining and mineral sectors, and to business.

In 2012 Barry was awarded a Doctor of Business honoris causa by the Senate of the University of Queensland and awarded a gold medal by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Barry has held a distinguished career in the minerals and resources sector in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe and South America, widely regarded for his extensive technical and operational experience.

Barry has also served on company boards in Australia, Germany and Japan in a professional capacity and given of his time as a member and then Chairman of Anglican Church Grammar School from 2004-2012 and Chairman of St John’s Anglican College and The Springfield Anglican College Council.
