With a focus on emotional and spiritual wellbeing for all, regardless of faith, Samuel offers pastoral counselling and safe, confidential and empathetic spaces for reflecting on life’s questions. As College Chaplain, he coordinates Chapel services, providing contemplative environments and resources that explore the intersection of spirituality and life’s complexities.

Samuel’s academic and professional journey includes a degree in Horticultural Science with several years working in Tasmania’s fresh market vegetable industry. Following a call to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church, he completed a degree in Theology and was ordained a Deacon in 2010 and Priest in 2011. His wide-ranging experience spans rural and inner-city parish ministry, as well as chaplaincy to the healthcare and education sectors, including being one-time Senior Chaplain at Trinity College, University of Melbourne.

Beyond St John’s, Samuel is a loving father of two daughters Amelie and Ellie. He is manager and Missioner Chaplain of Baroona Farm, an urban agriculture ministry based at St Francis Theological College in Milton, which grows food for the nutritionally vulnerable. He also runs his own business as an accredited professional clinical and pastoral supervisor.

Samuel’s dog, Gypsy, is a regular and much-loved visitor of the St John’s College Community.
