John Denis Fryer
A WWI veteran, Mr Fryer became involved in student journalism on his return. He died of tuberculosis in 1922.
In 1927 The University of Queensland Dramatic Society initiated the Fryer Memorial Library of Australian Literature, which has become one of the University’s most significant cultural collections.

Judge Edwin. D. Stanley
A barrister and judge in Queensland, Judge E. D. Stanley was also served on The University of Queensland Senate.

Frederick Woolnough Paterson
A Rhodes scholar, politician and barrister who was active in Queensland and industrial politics.
At times a member of the Australian Labor Party and the Communist Party, he was influential in industrial law for railway workers.
