Dean of Studies - Joaquin Kosegarten-Villarreal

Joaquin has been with St John's in his role of Dean of Studies since 2021. Joaquin moved to Brisbane from Melbourne where he has worked at Trinity and Ormond Colleges and International House in both pastoral and academic leadership positions.

Joaquin is a former Industrial Engineer and holds two Masters degrees from LaTrobe University in Melbourne.

Joaquin’s key role is to develop strategies to make studying easier for the student community so they can thrive academically while maintaining a balance with college life. He currently runs the largest tutorial program amongst the UQ Colleges. 

He lives on campus in the visiting scholars flat and outside of the professional world Joaquin has a wide range of passions including Taekwondo which he has practiced for 23 years, ultra distance running, spartan races, hiking, and cooking.
