Nicholas Greenstreet, Law

University of Queensland Law School Tutor Lawyer Nicholas GreenstreetNicholas is “passionate about all things law”.

For the past year Nicholas has been tutoring several Law classes at St John’s, including Principals of Contractual Agreement, Contemporary Law and Justice and Managing International Legal Complexity.

Outside of St John’s, Nicholas works as a Lawyer in appeal case management. He also spends his free time studying because he is currently a Master of Laws student at UNSW. His thesis topic and specialty area is environmental and sustainable development law.

As a tutor, Nicholas avoids the collective mentality. As he says, by treating each student independently, it allows him to target learning plans better and attend to different individuals’ needs.

Nicholas appreciates being able to work in tertiary education and train the next generation of legal minds. He says tutoring is a great way to stay in touch with what is being taught in the classroom, and he likes passing on his knowledge and experience to others.

Regarding law students, their education, and preparing for their careers, Nicholas mentioned it is helpful for anyone interested in practicing law to learn from lawyers in the field whenever possible. That was what motivated him to become a tutor.

But he also said there are other paths to consider. For example, Nicholas is a nationally accredited mediator, and encourages students to consider alternative dispute resolutions as that is an important and growing sector.
